Shift Supervisor (Gary, IN)

VEXOR Engineered Fuel of Indiana is currently searching for a full time 1st Shift Supervisor.  Starting pay is competitive in the industry but based off of experience. We offer complete health benefits, vacation time, and more after the probationary period.

Job Summary: Supervises the activities on 1st shift and is responsible for overseeing personnel. Is responsible for operating heavy equipment such as Loaders, Excavators, backhoes, track hoes, and dump trucks along with helping on the production line as needed, basic maintenance/housekeeping to maintain a clean and efficient work environment and upholding the safety and quality standards of VEXOR Engineered Fuel of Indiana.  

Shift Supervisor Requirements:

  • Production/warehouse experience required
  • Expert at operating heavy equipment such as Excavators, Loaders, Skid Steers, Backhoes ect
  • Ability to lead a team and reach goals and objectives set by the company
  • Operator Certifications are a plus
  • Strong knowledge of plant operations
  • Ability to read and understand documents
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks
  • High attention to detail
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Shift Supervisor Main Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize objectives for the day and get personnel ready for the shift
  • Do Pre-maintenance on machines and if something breaks notify maintenance
  • Solidify pits as well as Unloads bulk trucks into mix pit and shredders
  • Coordinate with the lab where the material should go
  • Train personnel on the operations along with how to operate heavy equipment
  • Scan drums using hand held scanner
  • Compact and load out empty drums
  • Receive shipments and unload trucks
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a neat and clean working environment
  • Operate heavy equipment i.e. Backhoe, Trackhoe, excavator loader in process area
  • Report any equipment damage or employee issues
  • At the end of the shift ensure that work areas are ready for the next shift
  • Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk, see or hear.
  • May be subject to heat and cold stress environments, both inside and outside
  • May be exposed to noise
  • The worker may be exposed to hazards such as moving vehicles, moving mechanical parts
